Open dialogue with Chef, Andy Needham

We met with distinguished Chef Andy Needham, to discuss how his successful restaurant L’Amorosa is dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic.

What is L’Amorosa?

We are an independent Italian neighbourhood restaurant.

How long have you been trading?

Since September 2014.

How many people do you normally employ (pre-pandemic)?

8

What is distinctive about your business?

We were awarded a Michelin Bib Gourmand soon after we opened and have kept it every year since then. We concentrate on great food and creating an informal, friendly atmosphere.

What do you do to attract new customers?

As a neighbourhood place we work a lot on word of mouth, plus newsletter mailouts and social media.

How have you adapted to the pandemic?

We moved to a collection/takeaway service on two nights a week, plus special occasions like Valentine’s Day, and updated our digital presence.

What one bit of advice would you give to someone starting a new business?

Know your customers and keep in touch at every stage possible.

Where do we look to find out more about you?

Our website is lamorosa.co.uk

Thank you Andy, and thanks for cheering us up with your great cooking during lockdown.
